Project
Digital Food Ordering
Client
Fast Food Restaurant
Overview
The client is a drive-in restaurant with over 35 locations in Texas. During the pandemic, they saw an opportunity to introduce online ordering to provide more options and convenience for their customers.
I was brought onboard to help design the experience for web ordering, mobile ordering, and the employee order management system.
My role & process
I worked with two other designers to adapt the client's brand to digital. We designed a brand new web app, mobile app, and website for digital ordering. We also designed a custom order management system (OMS) that the staff would use to manage digital orders.
We had the opportunity to run discovery sessions with not only the corporate leadership but store managers as well. We got to dive deep into the customer and employee personas and take a virtual tour of their kitchens.
During discovery, I did a competitive analysis on other restaurant ordering products to identify pain points and how we could be unique.
Next, I worked with the team to create a list of features and requirements organized by sprint. It was also important at this time to break down the menu and translate the plethora of items and options to work for digital ordering.
I created low fidelity flows to illustrate the experience at a high level.
We created prototypes in Figma to illustrate core flows and interactions.
Once wireframes and prototypes were approved by the client, the design team created the mockups for pages, components, and states needed for development.
